Take a Virtual Voyage
Magnificently reborn, The Press Hotel is proudly rooted in Portland’s past. The structure we call home was once the Gannett Building, the historic headquarters of the Portland Press Herald—the state’s largest newspaper.
While the days of printing presses may be over, we continue to honor our history with thoughtful touches. Be on the lookout for typewriters at every turn, artistic nods to typesetting, and quotes from Maine literary luminaries.
Our lobby is the heartbeat of the hotel. Start your day playing Scrabble by the hearth, and after an afternoon of exploring Old Port, wind down with a cocktail from Inkwell.
While our past evokes the power of the written word we celebrate art in all its forms. On the lower level of the hotel, you'll discover our permanent art gallery featuring local Maine artists.
Can’t get out of bed? Blame our Frette™ bed linens and Cuddledown® comforters. Luckily, everything you could ever want is just a front desk call away.
May your spirits rise as high as the towering ten-foot-tall ceilings above you. Take in the citywide views on your private rooftop patio. Within the Penthouse Suite – also known as the Royal Suite – you’ll find unparalleled luxury and authentic touches (think: your very own Royal typewriter, circa 1925.)
One Bedroom Suite
Our suites are perfectly appointed for business and pleasure (or a little bit of both.) Located on the second and sixth floors of the hotel, each offers something special. Love a good soak? Suite 201 has a luxuriously deep tub. Hungry for more space? The slightly larger Suite 601 hosts a dining area and extra half bath. You can’t lose whichever you choose.
These spacious corner rooms exceed even the loftiest of expectations. With oversized windows, double vanity sinks, and a deep soaking tub, they provide the perfect city retreat. The cozy seating area, with a comfy pullout sofa, is perfect for enjoying a morning cup of Keurig® coffee. These rooms also feature built-in wet bars for extra luxury.
Serving Up Approachable Excellence.
At UNION, we believe that every dish should honor its roots. We are dedicated to sourcing the very best sustainable and local New England ingredients. Our relationships with our neighbors in Maine’s agriculture and working waterfront are paramount. You’ll discover the bounty of our oceans, streams, gardens, and fields in every bite.
Witness Wedding Magic.
Passion is at the heart of everything we do at The Press Hotel. Love fuels the words written on our walls, the works in our gallery, and the warm welcome you’ll always receive. Why shouldn’t your wedding be a work of art? From your first look to the last dance, we’ll work together to create a wedding experience that is Beyond Words™.
