Magnificently reborn, The Press Hotel is proudly rooted in Portland’s past. The structure we call home was once the Gannett Building, the historic headquarters of the Portland Press Herald—the state’s largest newspaper.
While the days of printing presses may be over, we continue to honor our history with thoughtful touches. Be on the lookout for typewriters at every turn, artistic nods to typesetting, and quotes from Maine literary luminaries.
Our lobby is the heartbeat of the hotel. Start your day playing Scrabble by the hearth, and after an afternoon of exploring Old Port, wind down with a cocktail from Inkwell.
While our past evokes the power of the written word we celebrate art in all its forms. On the lower level of the hotel, you'll discover our permanent art gallery featuring local Maine artists.
Can’t get out of bed? Blame our Frette™ bed linens and Cuddledown® comforters. Luckily, everything you could ever want is just a front desk call away.
